A South Wales contractor is selling a “high-dispensing” business, which comprises a health centre pharmacy and a high street pharmacy, as he plans to downsize his estate.
Property broker Christie & Co revealed this week that Briton Ferry Healthcare is on the market for a total asking price of £2.35m.
The larger pharmacy, The Quays, is located in Briton Ferry Healthcare campus. It dispenses over 16,000 items a month and has an asking price of £1.6m.
Less than a mile away, high street operator Neath Pharmacy dispenses around 8,000 items a month and has an asking price of £750,000 plus freehold, which also includes a two-bedroom residential apartment.
The businesses, which according to Christie & Co together have an annual turnover of £3.3m, are for sale either separately or as a group.
Briton Ferry Healthcare managing director Rob Davies commented: “We bought the Quays pharmacy in 1993 and later the Neath Road pharmacy in 2004.
“Over the years, the Quays pharmacy, which originally dispensed 8,000 items per month, has grown to dispense over 16,000 items, while the Neath Road pharmacy has from 2,500 to 8,500 items.
“Both pharmacies hold a close working relationship that remains to this day, and a super-established staff who have been instrumental in growing this business. Many are there from the early days of purchase.
“It’s now time to downsize the estate and unwind the portfolio of pharmacies, and these two pharmacies, due to their unique position, we have decided to put for sale either as a whole or as separate entities.
“They will both look after forward-thinking, aspirational owners, one serving the health centre whilst the other serves the local community and surroundings.”
Richard Thomas, a senior business agent at Christie & Co, said: “Briton Ferry Healthcare Limited represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a successful and profitable company servicing a loyal and growing residential base.
“Both pharmacies are in good condition and offer significant room for growth, as well as providing profitability from day one.
“The Quays, being located on a major health campus, boasts excellent footfall and a striking modern pharmacy, whilst Neath Road is a more traditional high street pharmacy which is highly rated locally.”
